Got Tagged...

How to play this game. Post these rules on your blog; List 3 joys, 3 fears, 3 goals, 3 current obsessions/collections, 3 random surprising facts about yourself. Tag 5 people at the end of your post by leaving their names.... Thanks Audra. I was really bored today. :)

3 Joys:
1. When Dan does something special for me out of the blue.
2. When Gracie climbs up on my lap to give me kiss without me asking.
3. For the time being; when I feel Reece and Violet kick and move around so much that it feels like a dance party in my tummy.

3 Fears:
1. Losing someone close.
2. Becoming paralyzed. Weird huh.
3. Not being able to fight off a bad guy if I had to.

3 Goals:
1. Lose 40 lbs in the next 6 months.
2. Run a marathon within the next year.
3. Not go crazy from the lack of sleep I know will be coming my way.

3 Current obsessions/collections:
1. My water bottle. (I would have a melt down if I went anywhere without it.)
2. Diapers (I've begun collecting for obvious reasons.)
3. Sun tanning.

3 Random/Surprising Facts about yourself:
1. I like to bite things. (ie...Gracie, it makes her laugh.)
2. I sanitize my cell phone with clorox wipes. Germs gross me out.
3. I wake up to pee about 5 times every night. Not really surprising- but random. :)

Ok...now I tag: Amy S., Malinda, Cambi, Kasey, and Kari

Random stuff...

I don't really have a point to this post but just thought I've been slacking on writing and this counts as my journal. So anyway, this last week has been great. Lots of doctors appointments, shopping for last minute stuff for the twins, BBQ's with the family, lots of resting and laying around, not too much swimming because of the rain-which was awesome, I loved it. The babies are doing great. They still haven't measured them but I think they are well past 5 lbs. They have to be. I'm kinda hoping that they are bigger, mainly because I've gained......ready.....prepare yourselves.....37 lbs. Pretty crazy. I don't feel like I look 37 lbs. heavier except on my belly of course and a little on my back side. My belly is getting so big. I can't believe that Dan still finds me attractive. I scare myself when I pass a mirror and catch a glimpse of my reflection. It's so weird looking because it’s so enormous. I had to laugh today when I looked down and noticed that my shirt had stretchmarks! You know your clothes are too small or you're too big when the fabric doesn't hold out any longer. :) We're getting so close to finally having these babies. I can't wait. We love them so much already and are excited to meet them soon. It's fun to see their little personalities already. Reece (Baby A) is the impatient anxious one. I say this because she has been head down, facing my back, and ready to come out for a couple months now. We haven't been able to get a picture of her face for so long because she is so far down there. She gets the hiccups a lot too. Violet (Baby B) seems more passive, does her own thing and loves attention. She turned feet first a while ago, so is constantly getting kicked in the head by Reece. She doesn't normally fight back. Every ultrasound she performs for us and is very photogenic. Both are just like me because they love their back massages. Dan or I will softly rub my tummy and they seem to nuzzle up and just enjoy, its so cute and something that I will definitely miss feeling. There's nothing like it.
I'm coming up on 35 weeks. Woo hoo!!!!! Today is as far as I made it with Gracie. I’ve had a lot more to look forward too lately. The closer I get to 36 weeks, the more the risks of breathing and feeding problems go down. I talked to my Dr. who took care of me in Thatcher and asked once I made it to 36 weeks, if I could come home and have him deliver them. He said that would be great. I’ve also thought about what their possible birth date would be and get this; if I had them the day after I turned 36 weeks, the date would be 06-07-08. Is that not the coolest thing ever?! My sister, who is an o.b. nurse, suggested that they could schedule so that at least one of them would be born at 9:10 am. Wouldn’t that be so cool? Although that would be a neat birth date for them to have I almost wouldn’t mind if I had them a week or so later. Call me crazy, but I really don’t want there to be any chance of them having any problems or reasons for needing to be in the NICU. We did that with Gracie and it was heartbreaking having her hooked up to all sorts of wires and tubes. I’m really holding out so I can go home and just have them there without having to travel from Mesa in the heat, possibly with an incision from a C-section and two little babies. It just sounds like a better plan to me. Cross your fingers I can make it that long.

So yesterday, all the couples in my family left on a cruise that we try to do every two or three years. At first when I found out that we were pregnant and that I would be close to delivering when we would be going I was a little bummed that we probably wouldn’t be able to go. But when I found out that we were having twins, I was a little less disappointed. Now, I’m at the point where any kind of traveling sounds like no fun at all. I’m really glad that I feel so tired and worn out. I don’t really feel left out because a vacation is the last thing that I want to do right now. I do miss my family so Dan kidnapped me and took me up to my sister Sally’s house in Glendale on Sunday night so I could hang out with everyone before they left the next morning. I have the best husband! He is so thoughtful all the time. Thanks Dan!

Oh- a cute thing Gracie said the other day. We were at Target getting stuff for the twins and Gracie got so excited when we walked into the store. (She loves shopping). She said to Dan, “Hey Dad, do you think you could maybe buy me lots of clothes? Huh, what do you say to that Daddy?” :-) And of course while we were there she kept asking, “Where is the shoe section?!” It’s already starting. :-)

Gracie and cousin Hazel

He promises that he wasn't trying to splash us. :)

The line up. Guilty?

Scooter rides! Dan used to drive this to High School. I totally would have dated him. :)

She's either wearing a fat suit or pregnant with twins.

What can't he do?

We have spent so many hours in the pool. I love to watch the kid in Dan come out. He's so athletic and its fun to watch all the new tricks he comes up with. A lot of these shots are from a game of HORSE. I'm glad I didn't have to follow him. :-)

Excuse me...

If any of you have seen the Mad TV skit "Can I have your number?" you will find this very funny. (Sarah and Kasey, this is for you.) The other day Gracie was right at my feet and I was trying to get by. I nicely said, "Gracie, excuse me." She replied, in her sassy voice and brotha dialect, "Escue me, can I tot to you fo a minute, the back of yo head is ridikilus!" I almost peed my pants laughing! Here is her swimming in the "cuzzi" as she calls it. Such a little nerd...just like her dad.

Just thought I would start this post off with some cute things that Gracie has said this last week. We were both laying down to take a nap the other day. I had my fingernails painted black and she looked at me like I was really scary to her and said, "you have scary monster hands." Then a couple minutes later she said, "Ewww Mom, you got eyebrows up your nose!" She cracks me up.

Things are still going good. Almost 33 weeks!!! I have an U/S tomorrow. I'm excited to see the girls again. I have a feeling that Violet has turned head down. I can usually feel her little head and back up towards the top of my belly but recently have been feeling what I think are little feet. Plus a couple days ago when I went in for a non-stress test they had to place the monitor way lower than usual. We'll see tomorrow. Okay, I've finally decided on names. I just couldn't do Iris, although I like it, it's too cutsie matchy with Violet. After about the 10th time of telling someone their names and them replying sarcastically, "What about Petunia and Pansy?" I decided that I couldn't do it. So the names are decided....Reece Danielle and Violet Marguerite. We wanted to do first names that could be their own, and middle names after family. I picked Danielle a long time ago, after Daniel, just in case we never have any boys to pass his name down to. Marguerite is Dan's mom's mother's middle name and she was such a beautiful lady. So the verdict is in and I'm about 99% sure that they won't change. It really has been tough trying to find two names that are not too different from or similar to each other. Here's a picture of my 32 week, 5 day belly. Woohoo! It sure is getting heavy. Dan's mom bought me one of those belts that strap around your belly and over your shoulder. I was desperate to try anything but it was too tight and I had a lot more contractions when I wore it. Bummer. Oh well, not too much longer.

Happy Mothers Day-From Dan

Hey everyone, this is Dan. I don't get on here often but wanted to post this for Becky. I just wanted to take a minute to talk about how amazing my wife is. The past few weeks as she has been in the hospital, she has not complained once. She is the best mom in the world and she is an amazing wife. Becky, I want you to know how much I love you. I love how you guide our family. You are the supreme example of a woman and I love that Gracie has you as an example of who she can be. You are always so concerned about me and Gracie and how we are doing. You are the nurturer in the family and Gracie and I are so blessed to have you. You take such good care of our family and I want you to know that we are so lucky for your companionship in life. I am so grateful that we will get to be together forever and get to spend time with each other forever. You are such a strength to me. Thank you for your spirit and for your willingness to have children. I honestly feel like I am the luckiest man. I love you so much Becky.

Summer Fun and Swim Lessons

I love summer! It has been really nice these past few weeks even though I haven't been home for quite a while. I'm camping out at my in-laws until these kids come and it has been a lot of fun. Dan's mom got me hooked up with a membership to the clubhouse that is near their house. Dan and I take Gracie any chance we get. They also have a pool in their back yard that me and Gracie swim in almost everyday. It's so nice to have a place to cool off. Gracie and her cousin Mikey started swim lessons or "swim school" as Gracie calls it. Both kids did really good. Gracie was a little nervous until I got in the water with her and we couldn't keep Mikey's head above water. He was a fish! Gracie begs to see her swim teacher almost every day. Her teacher is awesome and very good with the kids. Here's some pictures of us hanging out at the beach and also some of their swim lessons. The last two pictures are Gracie doing her "cool trick" as she calls it. She will count to whatever number she decides to, sometimes 3 sometimes 11, and then goes under water. It's a pretty big step for her. She used to freak out even in the bathtub when we would try to wash her hair. She always thought she was going to drown.

Bittersweet Day

I'll start with the good news first. We started off the day with an ultrasound. Babies looks great and the fluid I lost from being on the Motrin has doubled just from this last Sunday. Iris is 3lbs 15oz and Violet is 4lbs even. Yes they have names now. Its hard when you decide that you like a name and start calling them it, then second guess yourself and try to call them another. Iris was the one that I was unsure of but have decided that its her name. (For now anyway) Who knows. I still have maybe five weeks to change my mind but I don't think that I will. Anyway, both were very active and already picking on each other. Iris is head down and Violet is feet first. They kept kicking each other in the head while the sonographer was trying to take their measurements. It was so fun to see their cute little features and see them moving their lips. Iris even stuck her tongue out at us a couple times. :) Later that morning we got Chilis to go and went to the clubhouse to have some much needed family fun time. Dan and Gracie had a blast playing on the beach and in the water, while I had fun tanning my enormous belly. Hey, they say dark fat looks smaller than white fat! After that, it was back to see the doctor for the exam. Things went great and the nurse practitioner who checked me said that I was thankfully still at a 2 and 70 and that my cervix is like Ft. Knox. Woo hoo! After speaking with the Dr. we felt very optimistic about the next couple weeks. He said that once we made it past 32 weeks, it is pretty much fair game and the babies should do great if they come anytime after that. We left there feeling pretty confident about the weeks to come. Now on to the bad news. After a day in the sun and water, my skin needed a deserved rubdown with some serious lotion. Well I just happened to be standing in front of a full length mirror, (something I do not have in my house for obvious reasons). While putting lotion on my dry, itchy belly, I noticed two little shiny marks. Yup, thats right, my first two stretchmarks on my tummy. What a stinking damper it put on my near perfect day! I was so ticked not just for the fact that I got them, but that I know will probably get tons more seeing as I have potentially 5 weeks left and much, much more to grow. Oh well, I know it is totally worth it but I just was not ready to say goodbye to my body for good. Well, I hope this news both good and bad, maybe made someones day. :)
